How to post links on Instagram? Find out here!

Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world. Over the past few years, the platform which used to be very restrictive changed many of its rules and introduced new features, allowing people and brands to become more and more creative with their content. But there’s one thing that has remained unchanged – you still can’t add clickable links to Instagram posts. Luckily, there are a few workarounds that you can use to post links on your Instagram account.

Add a link to your Instagram bio

Technically, you can add a URL to your Instagram post caption but it won’t be clickable. And since it is impossible to copy Instagram post captions, anyone who wants to visit the URL would have to type in the URL manually into the search bar of their browser. This significantly decreases the number of people who will actually visit the URL, which is why the most popular way around this is to post the link in your Instagram bio and simply say that the link is in the bio in your Instagram post caption. Unlike post captions, the Instagram bio allows for one clickable link which can be changed whenever you want. It’s best to use a link shortener instead of directly adding the link to your bio.

Add links to Instagram stories

If a large portion of your followers watches your stories, you can add links to them to increase the number of people who visit the site. There’s one caveat though – you can only add links to Instagram stories if you have a verified account or a profile with more than 10,000 followers. If you do, just add a link to your story whenever you post it and your followers will see a “swipe up” sign when they watch it.

Links in shoppable posts on Instagram

If you’re running an Instagram page for an online store or something of this nature, you can add shoppable tags that will link to products to your posts that feature these products. This option works very well for profiles that have access to it since it significantly shortens the list of actions people have to take to purchase your product. On the downside, the number of accounts that can use this feature is very limited. Only business profiles approved for shopping that sell physical products can add shoppable tags to Instagram posts. Additionally, you need to connect your Facebook page to the Instagram account and you need to sync your product catalog with Facebook.

Add links to Instagram ads

Finally, the last option you can use to place links on Instagram is to run ads. This will work well if your goal is to reach a new audience and spread brand awareness rather than selling products or services to your existing customers. When you set up an ad campaign on Instagram, you can essentially convert your Instagram posts to ads. These ads will look nearly identical to regular posts but you can add clickable links and calls to action to ads. Keep in mind that since Instagram is owned and operated by Facebook, you will need to set up Instagram ads through the Facebook platform.
